Notices of eminent Sufis and lovers, with passages in verse by Kamal al-Din Husayn Gazurgahi. This work is ostensibly written by the Timurid ruler and patron of learning Sultan Husayn Bayqara (reigned. 873/1469 – 911/1506). According to the Mogul Emperor Babur, it is by Kamal al-Din Husayn Gazargah (fl. ca. 1500).

Written at a time when Sufi ideas were prevalent, it describes love as typified by the story of Yusuf and Zulaykha, followed by the lives of seventy-six famous mystics, poets and rulers. The overlying message is that the true love of Allah cannot be reached without having first understood earthly longing.

Saadi Shīrāzī was a Persian poet and prose writer of the medieval period. He is recognized for the quality of his writings and for the depth of his social and moral thoughts. He is considered one of the greatest literary figures in Persian literature and has had a profound influence on Persian and world poetry.

Saadi's most famous work is his collection of poetry called \"Gulistan\" (The Rose Garden), which is a collection of poems and stories, just as a flower garden is a collection of flowers. The Gulistan is a compilation of moral tales, anecdotes, and poems that cover a wide range of topics, including ethics, social issues, justice, and love. It is renowned for its wisdom, wit, and deep insight into human nature. Each story in the Gulistan carries a moral lesson, often delivered through vivid imagery and engaging narratives. It is widely quoted even now, with there being a common saying in Persian, \"Each word of Sa'di has seventy-two meanings”. Saadi’s words are truly timeless as his poem 'Bani Adam' is inscribed on the United Nations building entrance in New York.

A thematic treatise on Islamic spirituality and the stages and states of the Sufi Path, consisting chiefly of selected lines from the Masnavi -'i ma'navi of Jalal al-Din Rumi. A selection of Ismā’il Ankarawi (of Ankara), one of the best-known commentators of the Masnavi and the master of Mowlavi Tariqa. Inspired by great mystical works such as Manazil al-saeirin of Khwaja Abdullah Ansari and Misbah al-hidayah of Izzoddin Mahmoud Kashani, in this excerpt, Ankarawi has laid out the most important mystical issues in three types of Tariqat, Shariat and haqiqat.

This is possibly one of the earliest copies of this work with the other copy being held at the Süleymaniye Library in Istanbul, Turkey.

The didactic poem, in six Books (Daftar), on Islamic spirituality by Jalal al-Din Rumi. The Masnavi consists of six books, or volumes, containing a total of around 26,000 verses.

The Masnavi by Mawlana Rumi is one of the most influential works of Sufism, often ascribed to be like a \"Qur’an in Persian\", It's a storybook that embodies the spirit of the Qur’an in simple, rhyming Persian for the non-Arabic speaking masses.

The Masnavi is the most famous and profound book of poetry. The Masnavi is a poetic collection of anecdotes and stories derived from the Quran, hadith sources, and everyday tales. Stories are told to illustrate a point and each moral is discussed in detail.

One of the central themes of the Masnavi is the concept of divine love, symbolized by the passionate and transformative relationship between the lover (human) and the Beloved (God). Rumi uses the metaphor of the lover and the beloved to explore the yearning for spiritual union and the path of self-realization.

“From a snake-catcher someone stole a snake;

The fool saw as success this huge mistake

From that snake’s bite its owner thus was spared,

It killed the thief who’d now become ensnared.

The owner saw the thief as he lay dead:

I’d prayed to find this wretch eventually

To claim my snake, then take it home with me

Thank heavens, God chose not to answer it:

So many prayers request catastrophe,

But God opts not to listen mercifully.”
